Côte d'Ivoire and Belgium intend to strengthen their partnership in the maritime sector. It is in this dynamic that the Director General of the Autonomous Port of Abidjan (PAA), Kassoum Traoré granted an audience to a delegation of Belgian economic operators, led by his Ambassador to Côte d'Ivoire, H.E Carole Van Eyi. The discussions focused on the investment and partnership opportunities offered by the PAA to Belgian economic players. Representatives of Belgian companies expressed keen interest in the logistical, infrastructural and commercial capacities of the Port, a strategic hub at the heart of West African regional trade.

This visit is part of a dynamic of bilateral economic cooperation between Ivory Coast and Belgium. It echoes a previous audience granted by the Director General of the Port, on May 19, 2026, to a delegation made up of representatives of Enabel and the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, as part of the strengthening of strategic partnerships in the port, logistics and environmental fields.

Note that since his appointment, Kassoum Traoré has displayed active economic diplomacy, increasing meetings with strategic international partners. Thus, the PAA, the first container port in the sub-region, remains an essential lever for attracting foreign investments in Côte d'Ivoire.
