Faced with the difficulties in the oil palm sector, manufacturers do not intend to sit idly by. It is in this context that the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Food Production, Bruno Nabagné Koné, received a delegation from the U.O.C Group, former SIPEF-CI, one of the major players in the palm agro-industry in Côte d'Ivoire. Led by Bouali Moussa, the company's representatives explained to the Minister the main constraints weighing on production, in particular the low productivity of village plantations compared to industrial areas. 

The discussions also focused on the concerns of primary and secondary processing operators, faced with supply and recovery issues. This meeting is part of the reform dynamic initiated by the Ivorian government, which recently adopted a ten-year roadmap with 246 billion FCFA to restructure orchards and strengthen the competitiveness of the sector. More than 60% of this envelope will be devoted to the replanting of aging village orchards, a strategic axis deemed a priority by the authorities.

This hearing confirms the desire displayed by the Ministry to maintain a permanent dialogue with private players in the sector, in a sector which would contribute to the national economy. The next stages of this consultation should specify the concrete methods of supporting producers and processors.
