Faced with the challenges of climate change and the commitments made to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, Côte d'Ivoire intends to move up a gear. Indeed, it wants to anchor green financing at the heart of its development architecture. It is in this dynamic that an interview was held between the Minister of Planning and Development, Dr Souleymane Diarrassouba and Olola Vieyra, Country Representative of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) in Côte d'Ivoire, a few days ago. Discussions between focused on concrete tools such as sustainable financing, clean technologies, the framing of public policies and strengthening institutional capacities.
These levers are directly in line with the pillars of the National Development Plan 2026-2030, which positions sustainability as a sine qua non condition for inclusive growth. Also, 2 priority areas have been identified. The aim is to popularize green financial instruments among the Ivorian population and to strengthen the country's capital market. Ambitious avenues, like a GGGI which, since its presence in Côte d'Ivoire, has been working to mobilize considerable resources to support the green transition.
Note that the GGGI is formally expected during the Consultative Group on July 8 and 9, 2026 in Abidjan, where it will be invited to commit to actions structuring.
